Mayapo

Mayapo is an incredible versatile kite spot with stable wind 10 months a year. In the morning we have offshore winds which are excellent to explore the various and huge lagoons within the desert. Its knee to waist deep, completely flat water so an ideal beginner spot but also if you are an advanced rider you can jump over island or from the lagoon straight into the Caribbean sea. In the early afternoon the wind shifts to side onshore, which makes us able to kite in the sea and gives us access to more than a dozen different spots and a handful of downwinders. It’s virgin, windy, rustic and wild. It is also a bird sanctuary recognized by UNESCO, so we see eagles, pelicans, flamingos, herons, spoonbills every day on our excursions.
Cabo de la Vela

Used to be a Wayuu indigenous fishing village until a few windsurfers, and later kite surfers, discovered this unique place about 10 years ago. Now it is so much more and the best riders of Colombia come from Cabo de la Vela. Kitesurfing amplified their possibilities and opened the world for them. It is a small strip of little cabins, with strong offshore wind and butter flat water. Expect to be blown of your feet with 35+ kn wind and be amazed by the skills of the kids of Cabo, only to watch their spectacular kitesurfing is worth the visit. Sip a fresh beer or a Cocktail with the sun going down right in front of you in the ocean.
Punta Gallinas

Our favourite place in the peninsula, it’s a huge inlet with connection to the sea. Take the little fishing boat to cross the lagoon from our accommodation and expect to find nothing but pure beauty. The lagoon has mangroves on either side and is again a flat water offshore kite spot but here we are 100% by ourselves. It is deep water so an excellent spot to learn where we do all of the kite classes straight into the water, this way you avoid the majority of risks learning kite surfing. On the other hand this is a dream spot for advanced riders that want to do freestyle or big air kiting. In between kite session chill in our hammocks in the shade and let the beauty sink in.
Dunas de Taroa

A premium wavespot only for the bravest rides, kite straight from the top of the 50m dunes into the Atlantic ocean. It is a side onshore spot with a point break just a little bit upwind. Depending of the day and where you are kiting you will find waves between 1m30 and 3m30 high. If you want to ride a barrel, catch a wave with a directional board or just use these waves as kickers to bring you up high this is where you have always dreamt of!
La Boquita

Is a huge white sandy beach, approximately 5kms, with beautiful blue transparent water. You have to go through a channel in between the mangroves to get there which is challenging but extremely beautiful, our rescue boat follows us to bring the less experienced riders and students. Once you get through the narrow channel you are gazing straight into the Atlantic ocean, it is a flat water spot with strong offshore winds. A few hundred meters from the shore you have a sandbank that creates these perfect kicker waves to boost your jumps to the next height.
El Mirador

Or the ‘viewing point’ is one of the touristic highlights of the most northern part of Colombia. Instead of just getting out of our 4x4 and take a picture we go there by boat and do a 40km downwinder to flamingo island. The scenery is breathtaking with local wayuu fishermen waving from their fishing boats, they are working hard for you to eat that fresh caught lobster tonight. Once arrived on a private island we settle down to enjoy the beautiful sunset, flamingos flying by and a fresh and cold beer.
